City of the month: Vancouver - our top 5 to do list
1. Vancouver from the Sky
In the small harbour of Vancouver city, you can book a flight on a water airplane. There are a couple of options: You can choose for a flight over Vancouver to see the city from the sky, but you can also fly to Victoria. Victoria is the biggest city on Vancouver Island. It is a beautiful city with many “historical” buildings. Canada is only 150 years old, after all.
2. Rent a bike and go to Stanley Park
Stanley Park is a big park in Vancouver City. There is a nine kilometers long cycle route along the water. Tip: If the weather is nice, bring your swimwear and beach towel. When you cycle in the park and spot a couple of beaches, stop for a little sun and swim! Do you prefer a good walk, that is possible as well!
3. Granville Island Public Market
This is a local market nearby downtown Vancouver. The Granville Island Public Market is the jewel in the Island’s crown. The market is located on the waterfront. It's a nice market; you can walk around and eat all day long. You can buy delicious cake, bread, meat, fish, cheese, sushi, fruit and vegetables. Next to the delicious local food, they sell clothes and souvenirs as well. I highly recommend this place!
4. Shopping at Robsonstreet
In for a little shopping in Vancouver City? Go to Robsonstreet. This shopping street is in downtown Vancouver. Here you will find lots of department stores and brand stores from over the world. If you get hungry during your shopping spree, stop at Cafe Crepe. They have the most delicious crepes, sweet and savory. Cafe crepe is known for their great food and wonderful service.
5. Food trucks!
There are food trucks everywhere in Vancouver. They sell delicious dishes from around the world. Tip: download the app Streetfood Vancouver to see which food trucks are nearby.
